Greek citizenship

If your parents, grandparents or great-grandparents were Greek, you may be entitled to Greek, and therefore European, citizenship. We search for your ancestors' records in Greece and prepare your application.

What we handle

  • Assessment of eligibility based on your family history
  • Searches for birth, marriage and municipal records of Greek-born ancestors
  • Certification of Greek citizenship for descendants of ancestors born in Greece
  • Naturalization applications for people of Greek origin whose ancestors were born outside Greece
  • Registration of births and marriages in Greek civil registries
  • Preparation for the interview at the Greek Consulate

How it works

  1. Family details: you give us your Greek ancestor's full name, father's name, and place and year of birth.
  2. Records search: we search the archives and municipal records of the town or village.
  3. Document chain: we assemble the birth and marriage certificates linking you to your ancestor.
  4. Application: we file for certification of citizenship, or for naturalization where the ancestor was not born in Greece.
  5. Follow-up: we track the application with the Greek authorities until it is decided.

Documents usually needed

  • Your Greek ancestor's name, father's name, and place and year of birth
  • Your ancestor's marriage certificate (religious or civil, depending on the case)
  • Birth certificate of your Greek parent
  • Your own birth certificate, with Apostille where required
  • Divorce decisions, if a parent or grandparent divorced before your birth
